Jean taught for 8 years in one room schools in southern Saskatchewan – Weldon School north of Grenfell, Strathcarrol School north of Indian Head, at Ogema, Cabri and at William Grayson School in Moose Jaw. She had a passion and a gift for gently instructing and encouraging others as they learned.
In 1953, Jean met Kenneth Cole through relatives and in 1954, they were married. For the next 39 years they loved, cared for and respected each other. They were dedicated and hardworking farmers, who worked well together, enjoyed what they had and were always thankful.
Jean and Kenneth were blessed with four children, 11 wonderful grandchildren and 7 delightful great grandchildren. She cherished the time she spent with them. Most all of Jean’s energy was devoted to family. She worked tirelessly to provide a good and orderly home where everyone felt welcome.
Jean was involved in her community. She was a long term member of the farming district ladies group, the Baring Good Companions and a member of the Agricultural Society. Curling at Baring and in Grenfell added enjoyment to her winter months.
A celebration of life will be held in the Grenfell United Church on Friday, August 24, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.
Her family is sincerely grateful for the excellent care she received at the Grenfell and District Pioneer Home. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, contributions can be made to the Saskatchewan Lung Association, 1231 8th St. E., Saskatoon, SK S7H 0S5.
