Jean Eleanor Manners

Jean was born in Indian Head, SK on July 20, 1933. She lived in Sintaluta, with her family until 1946 when they moved to a farm that they purchased in the Poplar Grove District Northeast of Wolseley. After completing her education at Wolseley High School, she graduated from Moose Jaw Teacher’s College in 1952. Jean taught in rural schools around Wolseley until her marriage to Peter in 1958. Jean and Pete lived in Wolseley, then spent some years raising their children on the family farm before returning to town. Among other jobs, Jean did some substitute teaching, worked at the local TD Bank, also as an assistant administrator for the town of Wolseley and retired after many years spent as secretary for United Grain Growers Construction. In her spare time she enjoyed yard work and gardening, sewing, knitting, crocheting and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren. Jean spent her final few years as a resident of St. Paul Lutheran Home in Melville, SK.

Jean was predeceased by her parents William and Violet Fraser; her husband Peter Manners; her sister Isobel Brown and her brother Don Fraser.

Jean will be lovingly remembered by her son Evan (Nora) Manners and their family: Tessa (Cody) Van Engelen and their son Samuel, Lisa (Tom) Rutherford and Peter (Keely Hopkins) Manners; her daughter Sherry (Harmon) Polk and their family: Lacey Polk and her children Brynlee and Hadley, and Landon (Annessa) Polk and their children Henley and Camri. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Dianne Fraser, along with several nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held in the Wolseley Cemetery at a later date.
