Jim Christie

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert James Christie at the age of 85. Jim was born on November 24, 1938 and passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at the Indian Head Union Hospital.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 64 years, Verna; his two daughters Brenda (Dan) McCabe and Karen Christie (Dan Merkosky); grandchildren Devon McCabe and Kristy (Riley) Frizzell; great-grandchild Kylie Frizzell and sister Ann (Peter) Bot.

Jim was predeceased by his parents Bill and Elizabeth Christie; son Mark Christie and his brother Lowell Christie.

Jim started farming in 1959 and in 2016 he retired and moved to Grenfell. Jim knew how to make the most of life. He loved to hunt, fish, snowmobile, quad, golf, side by side, golf, curl, golf, party and make people laugh. Did I mention golf? He enjoyed visiting with family and friends and will always be remembered for his sense of humour. He will be missed dearly and forever in our hearts.

At Jim’s request, there will be no service held. Instead, a private service will be held by the immediate family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Sask Wildlife Confederation (Grenfell Branch) or the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 55, an organization Jim was proud to be a member of.
