Johann (John) Domres

DOMRES, Johann(John) Oswald passed away in Swift Current on April 22nd,2014, recently of Lakeside Nursing Home in Wolseley, Sk. and formerly of Lemberg, Sk. He is survived by 2 children, son Mark(Danette)Domres of Lloydminster, Ab. and their children; Brittany(Bram)Ratay of Sparwood, B.C. and Dustin Domres of Calgary, Ab. and his daughter Heather(Darryl)Denning of Kyle and their children; Meagan(Tyler)Jones, Kaedyn & Brealynn of Swift Current, Joel Denning and Mia of Swift Current, and Brianne Denning of Saskatoon. Also surviving John are two sister-in-laws Gertie Domres and Judy Pfeifer and numerous nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his wife Helen(Pfeifer) in June 2010 and his oldest son Warren in October 2012 and also by his siblings Arthur and Alfred, Richard and Mary in infancy, sister-in-law Doris Domres and brother-in-law Paul Pfeifer and his parents Gottfried and Ottelia(Nickell)Domres. John was born May 22nd 1928 on SE 16-19-10 W2 RM of Abernethy near Lemberg. On October 24, 1951 John was married to Helen and they lived on the Osiowy farm until 1959. They moved to Lemberg where John became manager of the Pioneer Grain and lived in the Pioneer house until they moved the farmhouse to Lemberg in 1964. John retired from Pioneer Grain in 1972 and went back to full time farming taking over part of his Dad’s farm. John served on the School board and Lutheran Church board. For many years John and Helen enjoyed their cottage at Katepwa Lake, where they also enjoyed golfing, playing cards and hosting friends and family. But what gave John the most joy were his children and grandchildren and then great grandchildren. Papa John will be sadly missed. Funeral Services will be held in Trinity Lutheran Church,Lemberg on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 2:00 pm officiated by Pastor Victoria Mwamasika. Interment in Town of Lemberg cemetery.
