

The funeral service for the late John J. MacMillan, Broadview, Sask. who died on January 7, 2005 at the age of 91 years was held in the Broadview and District Community Centre, Broadview, Sask. on Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. with Jim Atcheson, Lyla Larsen and Agnes Smiley officiating. The casket bearers were: Myron Wiebe, Sidney Johnson, Stan Burns, Doug Fisher, Rod McNary and Murray Puffalt. Interment followed in the Broadview Cemetery.
John was born in Rosetown, Sask. on November 24, 1913 and spent most of his life at Broadview, Sask. He farmed south of Broadview and upon retiring in his early sixties he moved into the town of Broadview. From 1965 to 1972 John drove the school bus and then went on to work for the Government Parks & Recreation Department for a number of years.
John’s passion was horses. Anything you want to know about horses John could tell you. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. One of his favorite fishing spots was at Amish Lake with family and friends. Some of John’s hobbies include: gardening, making lamps from willow roots, creating models of horse teams, making small wagons for use around the yard and making windmills. John was a people person and will be missed by all.
John was predeceased by his first wife Eileen in 1979; second wife Marjorie in 2003; father Alex in 1965; mother Sarah in 1987; two brothers Ken in 1959 and Duncan in 2003 and one sister Ethel MacMillan in 2004. He is survived by one foster son Lawrence (Eileen) Sayers; one brother Bill (Eileen) MacMillan, all of Broadview; one sister-in-law Arlene Peppley, Calgary; nieces and nephews: Helen, Brian, Bob, Verna, Heather (Larry), Janice (Brian), Pearl and Josephine (Hugh) and several great nieces and nephews.
