Ken was predeceased by his parents, Howard and Doris Drever and his son, Sean.
Ken was born in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan on January 19, 1951, and grew up on the family farm south of Piapot. After graduating in 1968, Ken moved to Regina to go to university. He studied engineering and graduated with distinction from the University of Saskatchewan in 1972 with an agricultural engineering degree. He then moved to Vermilion to work as a system engineering instructor at the college. This is where he met the love of his life, and the rest is history. Ken married Shar in 1974 and they started their life together. Ken had engineering jobs in Vermilion, Lethbridge, and Yorkton. In 1985, he packed up his family to take over the farm while also continuing with engineering consulting work. In 2007, he semi-retired to Wolseley, spending his time on contract work, custom combining and spraying, and public service.
Ken was passionate about his family, farming, public service, and doing the right thing. He loved camping and boating with family and friends, working the family farm, and volunteering his time on numerous boards and committees. There was nothing he couldn’t repair and he always had an ‘engineering fix’ to make things work better. Once grandchildren came along, they were the light of his life, next to Shar of course. Nothing made his eyes light up more than taking the grandkids on a tractor ride during seeding or harvest. Ken was often stoic but once people knew him, they recognized his dry wit and sense of humour. He will be deeply missed by the many lives that he touched.
A celebration of life will be held in the Wolseley Town Hall & Opera House, 206 Richmond Street, Wolseley, Saskatchewan on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 1:00 p.m.
