Lorrie was predeceased by his twin grandsons: Bailen and Haeden (Kellie), his sister Florence, and his parents Arthur and Ida Rink.
Lorrie is survived by his daughters: Angie Rink (special friend, Ryan), Jennifer Hunt (Patrick), and Kellie Rink (Christopher Dyke), and his grandchildren: Bradley, Amber, Mason (Angie), Nicholas, Theodore, Seraphina (Jennifer), and Callen, Avalyn (Kellie). Lorrie is also survived by his sister Louise Dyke (Gerald), and his brother, Gordon Rink (Veta), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lorrie grew up on the family farm north of Oakshela and went to Bradley School until grade 8, and then transferred to Broadview School where he graduated high school in 1965. While in school, Lorrie enjoyed playing sports especially curling and ball. After graduating, Lorrie moved to Alberta where he worked for several years before returning home to start up farming. He married Marlene Fuchs and they had twins, Angie and Jennifer, and their third daughter, Kellie came along a few years later. In time, Lorrie began another venture alongside the cattle and grain farm he’d already established and started long distance trucking. He travelled all over North America from coast to coast. Lorrie was in his element when telling stories from his times on the road. Lorrie was also active in the Broadview Lions Club, the Broadview Curling Club, and the Grenfell Gems at different points in his life.
In time, Lorrie retired from farming first, and then later from trucking when he sold the farm and moved to Broadview in 2013. He enjoyed spending time with his daughters and grandchildren in his later years. His family will sorely miss his deep and reverberating voice as he shared his stories, gave reassurance, and never forgot to say “I love you”.
A private family interment will take place in the Broadview Cemetery at a later date.
