Michael (Mike) Erza

Mike was born and raised on a farm near Lemberg, Sk. He married Vicky Rokita in 1951 and they farmed for nearly 60 years near Candiac until his move to Montmartre in May of 2012, then to Hayes Haven in Indian Head in July of 2014. The next move was to the Wolseley Lakeside Nursing home in July 2015 and his final place of residence was Montmartre Health Center in August 2015.

Mike was predeceased by his beloved wife, Vicky, daughter Theresa McLeod; his parents John and Pearl Erza, sister Victoria Erza, brother Steve Erza, parents-in-law John and Agnes Rokita, brothers-in-law, Joe Jurzyniec , Walter Romanow, and Jack Roth, sisters-in law Frances Cooney and Rose Roth, niece Lorraine Kanda and nephew Allan Cooney.

Mike leaves to cherish his daughters Sandy(Greg) Wallace, Margaret Elliott(Bobby Webster); sons Andrew(Grace)Erza, Garry Erza and Brian Erza(Brianna Nestor); grandchildren Kim(Tim)Rose and children Colby, Gracyn, Carson and Mykenna; Kendrick Knoll; Clayton and Kent Wallace; Raelene(John) Kuffner and children Kennedy and Kamdyn; Dustin Elliott(Sarah Keepness)and children Noah and Talia; Hayley Erza and Ian Erza; his brother Joe(Irene)Erza, sisters Frances Jurzyniec, Bertha Romanow, sister-in-law Janet Erza, as well as many nieces and nephews, their families and friends.

Mike was a dedicated family man, a hard working grain and cattle farmer and a strong community man and avid church-goer. Some of his interests and hobbies included hunting/trapping, fishing, Knights of Columbus, gardening, playing cards, curling, broomball, crop checking and socializing with family and friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. Zimmerman and staff at the Indian Head Union Hospital, staff at Hayes Haven in Indian Head, Wolseley Lakeside Nursing Home and Montmartre Health Care Center for their heartfelt care and compassion shown to Mike.

Prayers will be held on Wed. Sept. 30 at 7:00pm. The funeral will take place on Thurs. Oct. 1 at 10:30am., both at the St. Joseph’s Catholic church in Candiac, Sk.

A reception for family and friends will be held in the church basement immediately following the interment.
