It is with a heavy heart that we announce the sudden passing of our husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Murray Schneikart, in the Golden Prairie Home, Indian Head, Saskatchewan on May 29, 2026 at the age of 74 years.
Murray was born September 13, 1951 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, the son of Marie and Reinhold Schneikart. In his teens, Murray spent some time in the military as a mechanic. He returned to farm in Crane Valley and Murray married Mary-Ellen Bowlby on November 12, 1983. Murray enjoyed caring for and spending time with many pets over the years. In 1998, he sold the farm and retired from farming to do some travelling with his wife. He moved to Tisdale where they ran a motel together for several years. He also lived with Mary-Ellen in Raymore, Pangman, Assiniboia, and back to Pangman for 14 years. Murray had many jobs over the years including working for John Deere in Raymore and Assiniboia as well as the Canalta Hotel in Weyburn. After retirement, he made fairy doors with his wife and they attended craft shows selling them. Murray was an avid hunter who also enjoyed archery. When symptoms of Alzheimer’s were evident, his final move was to Indian Head with Mary-Ellen in February 2024 to be closer to family. Shortly after their move, he was admitted to long term care. He resided at Golden Prairie Home in Indian Head for the last year of his life.
Murray was predeceased by his parents Marie and Reinhold Schneikart, as well as his younger brother Kenton (Ken) Schneikart; his sister-in-law Georgina Nelson and his brother-in-law Edward (Ted) Bowlby.
He is survived by his wife Mary-Ellen, daughter Kauri-Lee Malo and granddaughter Sara Malo. He is also survived by his older sister Roleen (Ken) Turner and their children Patti and James Turner; his sister-in-law Linda Schneikart and her children; Curtis (Crystal) Schneikart and their family and Debbie (Dave) Durand; his brother-in-law Alvin (Marlene) Bowlby and their children Calvin (Peggy) Bowlby and their family; Tamara Bowlby; Jason Bowlby and his family; Matthew (Dori Lee) Bowlby and their family; brother-in-law Lyle Nelson; his niece Lori Graham and her children Brogan and Micaela and his nephew Shane (Jolene) Nelson and their children Kyra and Tristan.
