Myra Lerat

On Monday, August 10, 2026, Myra Dianne Lerat entered into eternal rest in the Broadview Hospital, Broadview, SK, at the age of 72 years.

Myra was predeceased by her parents Clifford and Harriet Lerat and her brothers Cecil and Ken Lerat.

She leaves to mourn her passing: her life partner, Larry MacGregor; adopted daughter Candace (Rob); adopted son Clay (Candace); and grandchildren Jocelyn (Sid), Tyrel, Kayla, Kaitlin and Chapan Bennett Taypotat. She is also survived by her siblings: Hugh (Barb), Eunice (Jerry) and Audrey (Ed); as well as sisters-in-law Bernice Lerat and Joy Pelletier.

Myra was born on April 10, 1954 in Broadview Union Hospital. After graduating from Broadview High School, she began working at Broadview School as a Student Counsellor, a position she held for 30 years. During that time, she cared deeply for countless students, offering support and a listening ear to every child who reached out to her. Many former students remember Myra as someone who provided a safe place for them while they were at school. We could always count on her to comfort us—or put us in our place—in the most loving way. After retiring from Broadview School in 2004, Myra wasn't done spreading her joy. She worked as a sales clerk at Gene's Water Care and waitressed at Mo's Garden, Kaycie's Roadhouse and Pan's Garden. Later, she worked in Dietary and Laundry in the Broadview Hospital. She ended her working years as a custodian at Affinity Credit Union.

Myra had many talents. She was an incredible cook and loved to bake. Every Christmas, she lovingly prepared trays of goodies to share with her family and loved ones. She took great pride in her yard, working alongside Larry to create one of the most beautiful yards in Broadview. She also enjoyed making tea towels, sewing and crafting.

Myra often said her favourite things were spending time with her grandchildren, hosting the annual New Year's supper, decorating for Christmas in the winter and tending to her yard and garden in the summer. At the end of the day, she loved nothing more than sitting in her gazebo and enjoying the fruits of her labour. Myra was devoted to her family, especially her nieces. Heaven help anyone who said a bad word about any of us! She would defend us to the end of the earth. Even when we were wrong, we were still right as far as Myra was concerned. She pushed all of us to do our best and most importantly, to remember who we are and where we come from.

Friendships were also very important to Myra and the family would like to acknowledge the special friendships she held close to her heart. These included her bestie for life: Velinda Neuls, Lorraine Prichard, Ken and Elaine Keller and Pearl Koollos, whom she missed greatly. She also treasured her daily coffee crew, where she spent countless hours solving the world's problems until she became ill.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Broadview Union Hospital for their outstanding care and compassion. We would also like to acknowledge and thank cousin Shelley Lavallee for being Myra's support and for providing such tender care during her final days. Myra left this world hearing the words of the Lord, with Shelley fulfilling her final wish.

Myra prayed every day. In her own words: “Granny said don't go to bed like a dog—say your prayers! So I did.” True to Myra's nature, everything was planned beforehand. She even left these words for us: “If I could live my life over again, I would not make any changes. I loved my life—no regrets!” And that is how we will remember Myra: a woman who loved deeply, gave generously, stood fiercely by her family and friends, and lived her life with no regrets.

The funeral service will be held in the Broadview Community Hall, Broadview, SK on Monday, August 17, 2026 at 1:30 p.m., with Nimorious Domanzing Kwabena officiating. The interment will take place in the Cowessess Cemetery, Cowessess First Nation. Following the interment, everyone is invited to join the family at the Broadview Community Centre for a snack and time of fellowship.
