Norman Ross Hicks

Norman was born on August 14, 1942 to John and Marjorie Hicks, in Wadena, Saskatchewan.

Norman was predeceased by his parents John Lansley and Marjorie Marie Hicks; two brothers Barrie and Byron Hicks and a brother-in-law James Wright.

Norm is survived by his wife Jill MacDonald; a son Aaron (Jessie); stepchildren Janice (Laird) and Trent (Pamela); nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two sisters Helen Wright and Lynn (Tom) Magnuson; three sisters in law: Kay Hicks, Lucile Bear and Sandra Puffalt (Glen Lyman), along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Norman, following Grade 12 graduation in Wadena, started his career in banking in his hometown. He moved on to the communities of Kamsack, LaRonge, Maple Creek, North Battleford and finally Portage la Prairie, MB. He then spent a year selling life insurance. He moved into Regina working with band students in music programs in different Regina schools. On March 15, 1971, he moved to Wolseley where he began a career in municipal administration that ended upon retirement in the fall of 1999, twenty-eight and a half years as the Administrator for the Town of Wolseley. In April 2020 as part of the Pipestone Health District the Wolseley Acute Care Memorial Hospital was closed to deal with the pandemic. Along with the closure, Wolseley District community trust accounts were transferred to SHA in Regina. Eventually after several months of professional assistance by Norm Hicks the trust funds were transferred into the Wolseley District Health Foundation, established December 31, 2016. Norman was appointed as one of four foundation trustees representing the Wolseley Town Council and the RM of Wolseley #155. He retired as a trustee from the Wolseley District Health Foundation in January 2025.

A private family interment will take place in the Wolseley Community Cemetery.
