Originally from Indian Head, Pat was predeceased by her parents, Jean and Stanley Nichols and her sister and brother-in-law, Beth and Bucko McDonald.
She is survived by her niece Carol (McDonald) Day and her family and her nephew Donald McDonald and his family.
Pat began her elementary education at Sunny Slope, a one room country school. Upon completing her grade 12 from Indian Head High School, she pursued a career in nursing. She attended the Grey Nuns’ School of Nursing in Regina where she obtained her RN diploma and went on to receive her diploma in Public Health Nursing. Later, she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Saskatchewan.
After her initial training, she travelled throughout Europe and North America and worked in various hospital positions in Saskatchewan, British Columbia and California. She devoted 30 years to working with Indigenous communities as a community health nurse, supervisor and consultant with Medical Services in British Columbia, Yukon, Northwest Territories and throughout Saskatchewan.
Pat retired in 1990 and moved back to Indian Head where she spent much of her retirement doing what she loved most; golfing and socializing. She golfed numerous courses all over North America and was active with the Indian Head Golf and Country Club. She was an active member of St. Andrew’s United Church and was very involved with the Bell Barn Society of Indian Head.
She will be sadly missed by her family, friends and the staff at WMICC.
Well done, thou good and faithful servant. (Matthew 25 : 21)
