Paywapon is survived by her mother Holly Saulteaux; father Rod Cook; siblings Kimiwon, Anoshtin, Akidpt, and Wichoni; Kushi's Verna Ironstar, Lynda Kakakaway and Bernice Saulteaux; fur babies Citrus and Slippers; and numerous cousins, uncles, aunties, nieces and nephews.
Paywapon was known to be a caring, selfless, and strong young woman who is loved by many. She gave almost every moment to creating lifelong memories with family, her biggest pride was being an older sister to four siblings. Paywapon graduated Grade 12 at the top of her class in 2019, which sparked her interest in becoming an engineer. Her ambition and hard work landed a first job, a vehicle and independence.
Paywapon's free time was spent watching sunrises, sunsets, caring for her cats, planning travel across Canada and the United States, learning Korean, going for long walks and drives, and listening to her favourite bands like BTS and Twenty One Pilots.
Paywapon was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 16. She battled with her illness and fought bravely until the age of 20 when her journey on Mother Earth came to an end. Our gratitude to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, Palliative Care Unit and the many loving nurses and doctors who comforted and cared for Paywapon. Paywapon will be missed by many and her memory will be carried in the hearts of everyone who loved her.
