Roberta Jean Livingston was born on October 4, 1928 to Egbert and Charlotte Clark of Sintaluta, SK. She was the 3rd oldest child in a family of six children and grew up on the family farm north of Sintaluta. She took her public schooling in Sintaluta and upon graduating, moved to Moose Jaw for 6 weeks of normal school which qualified her to teach. While teaching in Wapella, Jean and David were engaged and then married on October 16, 1949. They welcomed four sons into this union and raised their family on the farm where David’s parents had homesteaded.
Jean enjoyed every aspect of home life and raising her children, putting her very best into it, growing a big garden, selling eggs and cream to buy essentials, driving grain truck, as well as preparing meals for the field.
The gospel came to David and Jean in 1972. Jean took a keen interest in learning her bible, so when she heard the gospel story, she recognized this as being what she read about in the scriptures. David and Jean valued the church that was in their home, and always had an open door for friends and God’s ministry.
Jean and David supported one another in all things, creating harmony in the home.
When cancer took David after 55 years of marriage, Jean continued actively in the farm business, with her youngest son, Don. She loved her family, always interested in what the grandchildren were doing. She was a great neighbour and a great friend.
Jean celebrated her 90th birthday at a surprise get together with friends and family last fall. She was able to remain on the farm she loved until Sunday, June 9th when she passed away peacefully at their house.
Jean is survived by her four sons: Darcy (Marion), Bernal (Maivis), Robert (Marilyn) and Donald; eight grandchildren: Asyah Livingston, Leah (Byron) Holt, Laureisa (Henrik) Jensen, Sandra (Jonathan) Dean, Barry (Michelle) Livingston, Kevin Livingston, Cameron (Heidi) Livingston, Larry (Crystal) Livingston as well as twenty great grandchildren. Also survived by her brothers: Roy (Eleanor) Clark, Walter (Ivadell) Clark; sister Mattie Barber, and brother-in-law John (Lorraine) Livingston.
Jean was predeceased by her husband David in 2005; her parents Egbert and Charlotte Clark; David’s parents Stanley and Myrl Livingston; two sisters Helen (Howard) Mercer and Esther (Clarence) Dolter; sisters-in-law Margaret (Roger) Beliveau and Doreen (Allan) Gray and brother-in-law Gordon Barber.
