Rodney passed away peacefully on April 29, 2020 at the age of 59. Rodney was predeceased by his brothers: Soloman in 1959, Les in 2001 and David in 2003; sister Faith in 2010, Mosom Ernest, Nohkom Maggie, grandparents; Leo and Florence Delorme, aunties: Norma, Rena, Winnie, Maude, Fern, Joyce, Kathy and Donna; uncles: Jimmy, Aubrey, Elliot, Clifford, Andy, Mannie, Rayne and Bruce. He leaves to mourn his parents, Glen and Joyce Goforth of Peepeekisis First Nation; companion Darlene Desnomie of Peepeekisis First Nation; children: Syreeta, Tiffany, Glenn, Ruth and David; grandchildren: Destiny, Kelsey, Dredon, Dayson, Carson, Darius, Madison and Ariana; sister Glenda (Gord); adopted brothers: Dolphus, Wavell, Merle (Sim), Delbert and Dale; mother-in-law Evelyn Desnomie of Peepeekisis First Nation; aunts: Leona, Glenda and Dawn; uncles: Lawrence and Malcolm; special cousin/bro Stan Riddel; as well a numerous special step-children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Rod was known for his smile and artwork. He was a carver and painter, he loved animals and children. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and a hard worker. He was always front row and center when his nieces and nephews danced and participated with the elders. He spent many years in Vancouver where his children still reside; he worked as an artist, yacht builder and carpenter before he moved home to Peepeekisis.
The funeral service will take place at house #8 on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. with the interment in the Peepeekisis West End Cemetery. Due to Covid – 19 restrictions we ask that no children attend and that those in attendance practice safe distancing, wear gloves and masks if possible. The family would also like to thank the doctors and nurses at the General Hospital emergency and palliative care ward for your excellent care and compassion for Rod and family.
