

Sophia Raczynski was predeceased by her husband Edward Emil Raczynski (1996) at the age of 74; her daughter-in-law Heather (Malcolm) Raczynski; her grandparents: John and Paranka (Andrusko) Grzebalski and Melvin and Cecilia Mrychka; her parents: William (Basil) and Jenny (Ksenia) Mrychka; her sisters: Stella, Josephine Yakielashek and Mary Smylski; her brothers Steve and John; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Tony Englot, Joe (Sophie) Raczynski, Anthony (Stella) Raczynski, Luie (Mary) Raczynski, Helen (Adolf) Kolbe, Paul (Stella) Raczynski, Victoria (Mark) Bula, Agnes (Herman) Gieselman, Mary (Felix) Loszchuk, Nellie (Sr. Mary Martin, I.B.V.M.) and Rozella (Mike) Lubczynski and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sophia Raczynski leaves to mourn her two sons Andrew (Carol) of Morinville AB and Philip of Bradford ON; three grandchildren: Jennifer (Brad) Borno, Mark and Justin; two great-grandchildren Skylar and Quinn; one brother Joe of North Battleford; three sisters: Anne Englot of Candiac, SK, Pauline (Brian) Metruk of Brandon MB and Kathy (Murray) Lister of Wolseley, SK; brothers-in-law Tom Yakielashek of Kelowna, BC and Alfred Smylski of Brandon, MB and numerous nieces, nephews and God-children.
Sophia lived life to the fullest, claiming she “never wasted a minute”: gardening, baking, cooking, cleaning, shopping, traveling, camping, attending auctions and craft fairs, collecting and selling crafts, taking photos and making photo albums, listening to Daniel O’Donnell and attending his concerts, crafting, scrap-booking, calligraphing, pysanky decorating, metal-working, leather tooling, sewing, quilting, crocheting, knitting, rug-making, singing, viewing Lawrence Welk re-runs, reading, drawing, painting, canning, journaling, walking, list-making, archiving family histories, visiting, writing (Christmas) letters, chatting on the phone, supporting the community, being Canadian, participating in church activities (CWL, choir), praying – especially the rosary – napping, enjoying peace and quiet, gazing at the clouds and the stars, reminiscing, playing with children, petting dogs - and all things Ukrainian. A funeral mass was celebrated in St. Anne's R.C. Church, Wolseley, Saskatchewan on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. by Rev. Francis Hengen. The pallbearers were Ashton Lister, Kevin Englot, Randy Raczynski, Chad Stajniak, Jeremy Englot and James Nugent. The interment took place in Our Lady of Grace R.C. Parish Cemetery, Sedley, Saskatchewan on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 3:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Francis Hengen and Rev. Louis Abello.
