

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, niece, aunt, cousin, grandmother and friend, Tara Renee Saulteaux, Wamní Dóba Wíyan (Four Eagle Woman). Tara began her final journey on Monday, June 8, 2026, at the age of 51 years, surrounded by the love of her family in the All Nations Healing Hospital Palliative Care Unit in Fort Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan, following a courageous battle with lung disease and epilepsy.
Tara was predeceased by her mother Dr. Rev. Bernice Saulteaux; maternal grandparents David and Dr. Jessie Saulteaux; aunts: Marita Hotomani, Helen Saulteaux and Doreen Saulteaux; uncles: Frank Saulteaux, Roy Saulteaux, Alvin Saulteaux, Arnold Saulteaux and Roswald Saulteaux; granddaughters: Rowyn Lilly Agecoutay-Bigknife, Elizabeth Saulteaux and Kaitlyn Eashappie-Saulteaux; nieces: Terilyn Ironstar, Cammy Spencer, Tracey Hotomani, Errin Hotomani and Kelcey Thomson; nephew Cory Hotomani and special friend Jimmy Goodwill Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved and only child Davis Saulteaux (Janice) of Piapot, Saskatchewan. She is also lovingly remembered by her siblings: Dallas Saulteaux (Mike) of Cegakin Nakoda Nation, Twyla Saulteaux (Albert) of Pasqua First Nation and Darwin Saulteaux of Cegakin Nakoda Nation. Tara also leaves behind a large and loving extended family, including 13 nieces and nephews and 31 grandchildren, all of whom brought immeasurable joy to her life. She shared an especially close bond with Dakota, Icesess, Maynard, Echo, Payton and Avayah-Mae; special nephew Shayden and special niece Starlene Saulteaux, who each of whom held a special place in her heart. She is further survived by her grandmother Rena Ryder of Cegakin Nakoda Nation; aunts Aletha Whitefeather and Myrtle Hassler; uncle Derrick Saulteaux; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends across Turtle Island.
During her years at Lakeview Lodge in Standing Buffalo, Tara formed many cherished friendships and was deeply loved and respected by both residents and staff.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the physicians, nurses and staff of the All Nations Healing Hospital Palliative Care Unit in Fort Qu’Appelle for the compassionate care, dignity and comfort they provided during Tara’s final days. They also wish to express their sincere appreciation to the dedicated staff of Lakeview Lodge in Standing Buffalo for the kindness, friendship, hospitality and unwavering support they showed throughout Tara’s time there. Your compassion and devotion will forever be remembered.
A wake service will be held in the Cegakin Community Centre on Friday, June 12, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Following the wake, Tara will be taken to her childhood home, House #6 on Cegakin Nakoda Nation, where family and friends are welcome to continue honoring her life and spirit. The funeral service will be held in the Cegakin Community Centre on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Clyde O’Watch, Damien Hotomani, Michelle Thomson, Donnell Thomson and Pastor Edmund Jordan. The interment will follow in the Saulteaux Family Cemetery on Cegakin Nakoda Nation.
Tara will be remembered for her strength, resilience, gentle spirit and the love she shared so freely with those around her. Though her earthly journey has come to an end, her memory will continue to live on through the stories, laughter, traditions and love she leaves behind. Her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her and she will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
