

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that our beautiful Wamni Sunshine Abbott-Saulteaux has begun his journey to the spirit world at the age of 23 years old. On July 30, 2025 in Regina, SK, Wamni chose to end his life. Wamni was born in Regina, SK on October 21, 2001. He spent most of his life in Thompson, Regina and Edmonton. Wamni was the fifth child born out of seven siblings total, being the baby sibling for much of his lifetime, before our last two children joined us.
Wamni was a kind, loving, caring, funny, goofy, silly, empathetic, generous, thoughtful, loyal, hard-working, strong-willed, protective, musical and metal individual.
Wamni Wica (Eagle Man) was given his spirit name in Thompson, MB. Wamni took a lot of pride in learning about his cultural and traditional First Nations roots, including attending ceremonies, smudging, going to sweat lodges and pow-wows. Wamni was a soldier in the Canadian Armed Forces. Wamni was a warrior in his life.
A wake for Wamni will be held Thursday, August 7, 2025 at 4:30 p.m. in Carry The Kettle Community Hall, Carry The Kettle First Nation, officiated by Elder's Helper Kurt Adams. The funeral service will take place in Carry The Kettle Community Hall on Friday, August 8, 2025 at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Elder Clyde O'Watch. The pallbearers will be Fred Flett, Jordy Ironstar, Leslie Norton, Trystin Hendsbee, Anoshtin Saulteaux and Graham Oldford. The interment will take place in Carry The Kettle South Cemetery on Friday, August 8, 2025 at 4:00 p.m.
