She was predeceased by her parents, Carl-Heinz and Lydia Hoff, and her sister, Phyllis. Elaine is survived by her husband Buren; her son, Sean; her granddaughter, Anja (of Cupertino, California); her brother Ed Hoff (of Calgary, Alberta); and her sisters Ruth Wahl (of Drumheller, Alberta); and May Thompson (of Hussar, Alberta).
She was born in Bassano, Alberta, Canada, on September 7, 1943.
She attended Cluny and Camrose High Schools, in Alberta.
She graduated from Royal Alexandra Hospital School of Nursing in Edmonton, Alberta, in 1966 with an RN degree. She served as a nurse for four years.
On September 3, 1966, she married Buren R. Ree, her lifelong companion. She went with him as his schooling and career took him out of the country, to Illinois and Minnesota.
The family enjoyed many camping trips over the years, although, at her insistence, they gradually migrated to more comfortable accommodations; we began with a 6X6 foot umbrella tent, and eventually culminated in a 28-foot fifth-wheel trailer with indoor plumbing.
She worked in many people-oriented occupations throughout her life, including in sales at Jerry’s Floor Decor and LensCrafters, and at H&R Block as a tax preparer.
She loved to crochet, and made many afghans for the home, as well as for friends and family.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 20, at Wulff Funeral Home in Woodbury, Minnesota. Visitation will be at 2:00 PM and Memory Sharing will be at 3:00 PM.
Contributions in Elaine's memory may be made to American Cancer Society.
