

On Thursday October 26, 2023, Eugene (Gene) Johnson loving husband and father of four children, proud grandfather to nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, passed away peacefully in his sleep at age 69.
Gene was born on March 13, 1954 in Trimont, MN to Richard Johnson and Arline (Jones) Dodd. He attended Alexandria Technical College where he met his wife Corrine.
He studied law enforcement and was a sworn officer for Braham and Oakdale Police Departments with the majority of his career in Oakdale MN. In addition, he served simultaneously for 20 years in the city of Woodbury as a volunteer firefighter and held every officer position including 2 terms as Fire Chief.
On December 21, 1974 he married Corrine (Ellertson) Johnson, they raised two daughters Nikki and Angie and two sons Jason and Jeremy.
Gene had a passion for family, sports and his community.
He retired from Oakdale and began working his passion for sports as the Director of the Woodbury Athletic Association. His dedication to kids and families was evident to all whose lives he touched.
"It's about all the kids."
Gene was preceded in death by his mother Arline, father Richard, stepfather Sonny, son-in-law Troy.
He is survived by his wife Corrine, his four children Nikki (Steven), Angie (Dave), Jason (Erica) and Jeremy (Angie). His grandchildren Steve (Arielle), Cole and Adam Nelson, Lily and Ivy Johnson, Carter, Logan, Alexis and Natalie Johnson. Great Grandchildren Adrianna and Aria Nelson. Also survived by siblings Jim (Carolyn) Johnson, Cindy Johnson, JoAnn (Don) Hanson, and Darren Dodd. As well as aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Wulff Funeral Home, 2195 Woodlane Dr, Woodbury MN 55125 on Thursday November 2, from 4 pm to 7 pm. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 3, at 11:00 am with visitation from 10-11 am at Eastern Heights Lutheran Church 616 Ruth St N St Paul MN 55119. The service on Friday will be available to watch via LIVESTREAM. If you scroll down on this webpage, click on the button that says "Join Livestream" under the services.
