Passed away after a brief illness on 2/15/14. Preceded in death by parents, Jonathan Jerome and Katherine E. Bliss; brother, Robert D. Bliss. Survived by loving wife of 65 years, Emily; children, Kathleen (Robert) Van Krevelen, Debra (Mark) Jungclaus, Gerald (Joanie) Bliss, Jr., James (Lynne) Bliss, Thomas (Debora) Bliss and Suzanne Bliss; 17 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sister, Gloria (Paul) LeBuhn; nieces and nephews. Gerald entered the Coast Guard 1944-1947, married his wife, Emily on February 25, 1949 and attended the Minneapolis School of Business. He assumed operational responsibility after his father's death in 1965. Under his leadership, Metal-Matic Inc. has grown from the original plant in Minneapolis with additional plants in Illinois and Ohio, enabling future generations to benefit from the corporation. He was one of the founders of the MN 100 Club and served as president and chairman. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Friday 2/28 at St. Ambrose of Woodbury Catholic Church, 4125 Woodbury Dr., Woodbury. Visitation 3-7 PM Thursday 2/27 and 1 hour prior to Mass, all at church. Private family interment at Guardian Angels Church Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the American Diabetes Assoication, the Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
