I first met Henryk when teaching at Century College night school.  Henry (at the time) was the greatest.  He had that dedication as a student and a big, big heart.  I had not seen in him or June since they moved from Woodbury, but I thought of them often and missed his humor.  My deepest sympathies for your loss.  Henryk and June just made everyone feel important and loved.

Having been a classroom teacher for 33 years before my retirement, I have seen countless “educators” come and go. Of all those people, none had a star that blazed brighter for others to see; none walked a school hallway with more dignity and enthusiasm for life and learning; none reached out to students and staff with more compassion and humility than did Henry. His very presence in our building (Tartan High School) modeled a life characterized by outreach, joy, and love toward others. He represented traits that in my best of days, I could only dream and aspire to. The impact this true educator had on the lives of all he touched at Tartan caused me to stand in awe of him. Like so many others, I have been blessed beyond measure by having known Grandpa Henry. To me, Henryk was so much more than a role model both personally and professionally; he was a saint who God deliberately placed in my life's path so to provide an example of how I might become a better person. Henryk, now that your work on earth has been completed, may you enjoy your rich rewards. Shalom.

To the Family of Grandpa Henry,

I am so sorry for your loss.  I was a student at Woodbury High School.  Grandpa Henry was a guest teacher one day and I have never forgotten about him.  He told us his life story and raved on how he could use an abacus faster than we could use a calculator.  He came back 3 days later to prove it.  His dedication to math and teaching as well as his love for learning was amazing.  I strive to have that in my math classroom everyday.  I will never forget Grandpa Henry.

I was so sad to learn about both Henry and June's deaths in last night's paper.  They were such dear people.  I had been out of touch the past couple of years, but got to know them both through Henry's substitute teaching at MPA.  I was in charge of the subs.  They were both filled with courage, integrity and pure goodness in their hearts.  They each had so many interesting stories and were filled with life.  They loved their family so.  I was blessed to be able to help them a bit with their last move and know that was a big transition.  I feel very fortunate to have known and experienced this amazing couple together and separately.  I send my love to their family and join you in your grief.   The world is definitely a richer place as a result of their love and joyful spirits.  Joni Ballou

Henry was a a very gracious man. He and June invited my family over to their home for dinner one evening as a result of exchange of opinions in the Woodbury Bulletin.

henryk  was  a dear friend of ours he always came to our program here once  a month..  a few  times we sang  
HAVA NA GILA  AND HE SO APPRECIATED THAT.

Henryk sang in our community choir for several years.  We were blessed by his presence in so many different ways.  I will never forget the birthday party we had for June at my house and how excited Henryk was to help plan this surprise party.  He was a very dear man and we were honored to know him.

Dear Linda and Marcia and Family-
We are so grateful to have had Henry and June and all you in our lives as neighbors and friends. We will really miss Henry -my kids, just the other day, mentioned going to see him next week-and I know he meant a lot to many.
We will see you next Tuesday and we are praying for you all.
