Born in Madison, WI, January 4, 1943, to Gordon and Elizabeth JuVette (nee. Quackenbush). Graduated from University of Eau Claire in 1979 with a business degree. Upon graduation, Janice moved to the Lac Courte Reservation in Hayward, WI, where she held various business roles.
In 1981, Janice moved to Chicago to begin a career at 3M in sales. During her 19-year career at the company, Janice held various sales, marketing and laboratory positions before retiring in 2000.
Janice’s passions were many and shared by those closest to her. From spending time in her garden searching for flowers among the weeds to grand travel adventures with her husband, children and grandchildren, Janice’s zest for life was seen the instant that you met her. She also enjoyed sharing her love of art from watercolor paintings to stained glass and classical music with her family and friends.
Perhaps the most special and unique gift Janice held was sharing love and compassion to children and dogs. It was never a surprise to walk into her house and see her latest adopted dog or most recent “grandchild.” Janice was “grandma” ready to extend love, affection and a meal to anyone who needed it.
She is survived by her husband Craig Schwartz; daughter Maria C. Giddley; grandchildren Amanda Lathrop, Jessy McGhee Bruber (Nate), Kira and Layla Schwartz; bonus children Heather Cmiel (Trevor) and David Schwartz and many dear friends.
To honor Janice’s passion for children and dogs, memorials preferred to Ronald McDonald House or the ASPCA.
A celebration of life will be at the Lake Elmo Inn Event Center on Thursday, July 12. Visitation from 4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m., and memorial service at 5:30 p.m., reception and memory sharing to follow.
