Loving father, brother, friend, and musician, Jerry Jerome Eskridge, moved on to his final gig Thursday, December 23, 2021, in Woodbury, MN at the age of 62. He was one of eight children born to Luther and Gladys Eskridge in Chicago, IL. He confessed his love for Christ as a child, was confirmed at Augustana Lutheran Church, and began his singing career in the St. Matthews Lutheran Church choir in Chicago, IL.
Jerry was a strong, charismatic man with a big heart, infectious laugh and bright smile that could liven any room. He never met a stranger and had a keen way of making everyone around him laugh and feel at ease. He enjoyed camping, hiking, fishing, travel and any activities involving family and friends, but his true passion was music.
Jerry lived his life fully engaged in that passion of music and was most comfortable, free and brimming with joy while on a stage. He traveled the world with his music, performing in places like Bermuda, Canada, Hong Kong, Puerto Rico and throughout the United States, including a performance for the second inauguration of former President George W. Bush. Some of the bands, orchestras, and prominent musicians in the Twin Cities area that he was honored to work with are: Adama; Bella Divas; Brian Kinney Band; Casablanca Orchestra; Chanhassen Dinner Theatre-Aretha and Her Men; Ms. Debbie Duncan; Dr. Mambo's Combo; Ms. Gwen Matthews; J.B. and the Routine; Soul Tight Committee; Soulution; Synergy; Temporary Heroes; The Jam Factory (D'Lite); The R Factor; The Sevilles; Who Nu; and Mr. Willie Walker. A full account of his contribution to projects and performances through the years is impossible.
Jerry is survived by his children, Lisha and Aram and their mother, Darla; his grandchildren, Serenity and Jade; sisters, Patricia, Kathy (Anthony), and Crystal; brothers, Clarence and Ralph; sister-in-laws, Sandra and Mary; nieces, Tywana, Kellee (Nathan), LaShuna (Lemont), Sameka (Marcus), and Janessa; nephews, Philip (Arlease), Anthony Jr., David, Quintin (Delora), Luther, and Jeremy; eight great nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins and friends. He is proceeded in death by his parents and two brothers, Anthony and Michael (Carol).
