With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived, we share that Linda Fowler, born December 9, 1948, passed away at home on January 10, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family after giving cancer a hell of a fight for the past two years.
Linda was the kind of person who made everyone feel like family. She loved being around people and had a natural way of capturing the hearts of anyone she spent time with. Her warmth, laughter, and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression wherever she went.
Family was always her first and last priority. She was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Kelly Day (Jim) and Casey Haddy (Dean), and took immense pride in her role as grandmother (known better as Gram and G-Ma) to Amanda Johnstone (Casey), Kaitlyn Kelleher (Jeremy), Meagan Howe (Dan), Alex Schmidt-Karye (McKenna), Sean Karye (Maizy Walsh), Meghan Haddy (Bryce Willaby), Lucas Haddy, and Jackson Karye (Kiara Spurrill). She was so grateful to be close to her three great-grandchildren as Gigi to Audrey, Leo, and June, taking her job of spoiling them very seriously.
Born and raised in the Chicagoland area, Linda was deeply proud of her Illinois roots and Irish family. Here she learned the importance of family and kept them close her entire life, keeping her mom and dad’s stories alive long after they passed.
Those that knew Linda well knew she was always on the move, and she spent her life in places that became part of her story — the Chicago suburbs, Superior, Wisconsin, North Carolina (where she especially loved spending time near the ocean), and finally, Minnesota, which she called home for the last two decades.
Linda was an accountant by trade and took great pride in her work. Even after retiring (and being reminded that she was retired), she continued working part-time, enjoying the sense of purpose it gave her. In recent years, she also found community and friendship at her local gym, where she exercised regularly and formed close bonds with a wonderful group of women who meant a great deal to her.
For the past twenty years, Linda lived in Farmington, Minnesota with her daughter, where she helped raise five of her grandchildren, taking an active role in all their interests and activities, and extending her role as G-Ma to the neighborhood.
Ultimately, she found joy and peace in simple pleasures: tending to her plants, gardening, crafting, reading, exercising, traveling as much as she could, and being near the water she loved so much. But nothing brought her more joy than celebrating with her family – from reunions and special occasions to weekend dinners and game nights. The magic of everyone together became her favorite soundtrack saying, “it’s music to my ears.”
Linda is survived and deeply missed by her daughters, her grandchildren and their partners, as well as her great-grandchildren; her sister Joyce Latona; her brothers Jim Fowler (Martie), Bob Fowler (Sue), and Dan Fowler (Jane). She was also a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews, a cherished great aunt, and friend to many more. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marge and Bill Fowler.
Above all else, Linda loved deeply and was deeply loved in return. Her legacy lives on in the family she nurtured, the friendships she treasured, and the countless lives she touched.
A Celebration of Life for friends and family to gather will be held at Wulff Woodbury Funeral Home, 2195 Woodlane Dr, Woodbury, MN on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 2-5 p.m. Family is kindly invited to join at 1 p.m. In keeping with Linda’s joyful spirit, please join us in wearing colorful clothing to the service instead of traditional black attire.
