Goodbye, sweet friend, you are in a better place, though we will miss you very much. We didn't know each other for a very long time, but we did connect in our shared treatments of cancer.  When the bluebirds come to nest in the bluebird house you and Jim gave me, I will know that it is you in spirit coming to visit.  Hugs to Jim.

Jim, Kelly and Scott, Today was a beautiful tribute to one extraordinary woman. Your words have been with me all day. I will miss her.

I had a lot of wonderful talks with you wife/mother up at the cabin. She was always fun to be around. We will all miss her.

I love and miss Shirley! I considered her another aunt/grandma in my life. I'll never forget the family Christmases together at Uncle Ted's where she would talk to me about everything I wanted to do in my future. I will miss her kind heart and strong educated words! Thank you Jim, Kelly and Scott for the great Christmases too, your mom/wife will always have a place in my heart and in my memories.

dear kalb family  . i was so sad to read the news of shirley kalbs death.  i had shirley as a teacher many years ago in the 6th grade at willard school  in north minneapolis. she was my favorite teacher and she taught me and some of the girls in our class a dance to "i am going to wash that man right out of my hair" she was very young and a new teacher and so adorable.  my name was lynn pink  my married name is  lynn zamansky. i feel so sad that i didnt realize that shrley lived in the twins cities all of these years and we could have gotten togehter. i know she would have remembered me.  my email address is llzamansky@aol.com and would to hear about shirely and if she continued teaching after that year.  i always remember that she told me she was from allentown pa.   so sorry to hear that she has died. i bet she was a wonderful wife and mother.   sincerely lynn pink zamansky   3563 fairway court  minnetonka , mn 55305

Shirely was a role model for me.  She showed me that women can achieve an education and a career. How Shirely lived her life was inspirational and I strive to emulate her.  Find something you are passionate about and put your heart into it.  Have fun in life and it is okay to be a little kooky, no matter how old you are.  Thank you for teaching me such valuable lessons.

Dear Kelly and Jim...I was so shocked and saddened to learn of your mother's/wife's death.  Paul let us know and I want to express our deepest sympathy to you all.  We always enjoyed her company and have many wonderful memories of your family.   Blessed be her memory!   With love and our prayers, Mazie and Denny Niebeling currently in Mesa, Az (so we regret that we can't come to her funeral.  )

Aunt Shirley was and continues to be an inspiration to her Florida family and friends.  If we could each find the will to muscle-up a fraction of her joy of life and zest of adventure we would all be richer for it.  

Aunt Shirley's love of nature, her spirit of adventure and her ability to inspire us to fight when a fight was called for; and then let it go when something simply wasn't worth the hassle remain alive and well with those of us who were blessed enough to share a bit of this earth-bound journey with her.

Our prayers and love are with our Minnesota family during this time of adjustment and remembrance of a life well lived.

Shirley was a wonderful woman with a wonderful spirit and the world was a better place with her in it. Alas, another world has her now and she will shine there as she did here.  She will be missed. Warm thoughts and memories of Shirley with her energetic spirit, kind heart and sense of fun.  We enjoyed so many great Christmas holidays with the wonderful Kalb family over the years and their presence made each one so memorable.  Shirley always had a way of making you feel so enlightened every time you were around her.  Each Christmas, we put out the wooden hand-painted holiday decorations that Shirley so thoughtfully gave us and will always keep her memory alive every year. 

Her brave battle was amazing and her perseverance was remarkable.  She is at peace and with our Heavenly Father.  Our love and prayers to Jim, Kelly, Scott and all your families with our heartfelt condolences and thoughts during this difficult time.
