I'm so sorry to have just seen this and see that Steve has passed away.. Steve was four years ahead of me in school and one of the nicest people I have ever met. I remember watching him and praying for him to win the state championship in pole vaulting which he did. Knowing that I was an aspirational pole vaulter, he actually took the time out of his summer prior to going off to university to help me learn how to improve my pole vaulting technique. 

He could have been playing with his friends, preparing for school, or doing so many other things, but he found a lot of time to help me. I was just thinking about him today, as another memory triggered thinking of him, and then saw this.

Scrolling though all the amazing praises for Dr. K and noticed my name but a blank space.  Don't know what happened there but I must try again.  Dr. K took wonderful care of my husband Pat & I for 25 years. We attended the funeral on Fri. and knew there would be a huge turnout which he so deserved.  He always took time to answer all questions. He was so missed after his deserved retirement and sadly was not given enough time to enjoy it. May the family take solace knowing he was so loved by so many.

So sadden by the loss of Dr. KulenKamp. He delivered my 3 children, I had been his patient since I was 18 and I am almost 60. He often talked of his wife and children and you could tell the love and pride he had for them. Then came his grandchildren, his stories would light up the room. 
May the memories comfort you all. Know that he will continue to watch over you all.

Dr. Kulenkamp one of a kind doctor! He treated our family's then going on third generation over the years until his retirement. Heartbroken loss for all that knew him especially his beautiful family. May God give them the strength to get through these tough times.

He had a lasting impact on me, a young doctor at the time.  I will always remember and admire his dedication, integrity, love of family, and humble nature. I will never forget that he took call for me on Christmas Day, telling me, "you spend the day with your family." My boys were toddlers at the time. When my boys were teens, Dr. K became their doctor. My boys liked the pictures of family and fish he had on the walls of his exam rooms and thought Dr. K was a "beast" for having been a pole vaulter at Yale.  I am so saddened to hear of his passing, wishing you and your family had more time with such a great man. I knew Dr. Kulenkamp from the beginning of his practice. He was the best doctor in every way. He listened to you, he respected you and treated all of his patients as people not numbers. He always had a wonderful story to tell about his family. He cherished you all so much. I had great admiration for him. May God bless you all and give you strength during this difficult time. Dr Kulenkamp as one of our team's baseball coaches way back when... I remember him being a great influence on a group of young boys and helping us to pull together as a team. My condolences to his entire family.

When informed of Steve's illness and its serious complications leading to his passing, I was deeply saddened and heartbroken to lose my long-time friend, having known him for over fifty years. For over thirty years we were a team in a  family medicine practice in  Woodbury. Steve had caring ways for his patients, spending time and effort to know them and their families. He was his own version of the time-honored empathic family practitioner. He was respected by his patients for that "special connection" which developed over time. He enjoyed relationships with other medical colleagues and also in teaching family medicine residents. From a personal standpoint he cared for our parents until their deaths and also for both our children. Above all else, Steve valued his family as a husband, father and grandfather. Our condolences to his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all.

I had the honor to be a part of the team at Phalen Village Clinic and listen as Dr Kulenkamp guided the residents, he is a great teacher, coach,and mentor.  He is so patient centered and devoted to the profession.  As well he shared with me his love and pride in his children's success and his amazing grandchildren!  Loved hearing recently about all the great work his daughter is doing as a lawyer and his grandson who can draw and loves Star Wars- he was so proud of all of you and loved to share the love he has for you all in his stories- family was his passion. As so many others have said, Dr. K was a wonderful doctor and man. He was our family doctor from the time I was a young child. He was so supportive through my first pregnancy and delivered my first daughter. My entire family (mother, siblings, children, and extended family) is blessed to have been under his care for so many years. He has been missed from the clinic, and will be missed by former patients and the entire community. Sending you all prayers for peace and comfort during this time.

Dr Kulenkamo was my doctor as well. I had to switch insurance plans due to my employment and was disappointed that he wasn't doing to be my doctor. I agree that he was a very kind soul and shared good personal advice as well. I was so sad to hear in church this morning of his passing since he's not much older than myself. He will be greatly missed.

Dr Kulenkamp was my husband's and my primary doctor since the early 1980s. He was so kind and caring with my elderly mother's many health problems until her death in 1995 and he gave me counsel when she passed.  Dr K guided us through my husband Dave's years of cancer and eventual death, helping me through grief upon losing him. I admired Dr K greatly, knew he was a saint on earth and felt most fortunate to have had him as our doctor until his retirement. I'm so sorry for your loss of this special man. My prayers are with you.

Such sad news to hear of the passing of Dr. Kulenkamp. We first started seeing him at the little clinic on Woodlane. I remember him telling me that his boys cut the grass there. He delivered my youngest daughter at the old St. John's hospital. That daughter is now 37. What a kind, compassionate man he was. He called me personally upon the sudden death of my husband. I am so sad for those left behind. What a huge hole he leaves.

I would like to give my condolences to the entire Kulenkamp family. After reading all of the accolades about your husband, father and grandfather, I was over whelmed. He was a great pillar within the community, as well as a God sent to his family, friends and patience. Nick is such a humble and compassionate soul.  Nick is a direct report to my manager and there was I time when I was going through some petty things within the office and I spoke with Nick and he truly listened and understood what I was experiencing and guided me on how to deal with the situation at hand. I now see where he got this compassion for others from.  There are many people like myself that don't have a relationship with their dads. How blessed you all are to have had that experience. I pray that each of you take the personal relationship you shared with Dr. Kulenkamp to heart and hold those memories within yourselves and pull those memories out whenever you feel the need. Dr K. was our family doctor. He delivered me in 1980 and was my doctor until he retired last year. Dr K had a personal touch with his patients and I always enjoyed hearing his stories about fishing and the family. What an enormous loss this is, he will be so truly missed. DR kulenkamp was my long time doctor same with my late parents. My late parents was very fond of Dr kulenkamp..I remember he was telling me about his fishing trips that he enjoyed so much..  DR kulenkamp made sure that I understand what I need to do being hearing impaired he really cared about making sure that I hear him .. So sorry for your loss to Dr kulenkamp family. Dr. Kulenkamp was a wonderful man! A loving caring doctor that was there for our family when dealing with my father's medical issues.  He was determined to find solutions and had never ending care for him...dad is waiting for him in heaven to great him.  He and his partner Dr. Solberg were the 1st doctors in Woodbury and all their patients loved them for their dedication to taking care of each person as if they were the only patient they had.  He cared about the up and coming doctors and I am sure he made a huge impression on those that came to know him.  
Dr. Kulenkamp was also my husband's doctor; he loved talking softball with him as they coached "against" each other over several years. 
Our hearts go out to all of the Kulenkamp family. Your husband, father & grandfather touched so many lives.

I was blessed indeed to be Godfathered by Uncle Steve. His life's work as a doctor and advisor, his parenting, and the love he gave to so many people will last for a long time to come. Love you guys.

He was such a wonderful man and Doctor. I am so sorry to hear of his passing too soon. May the Lord give you comfort.

I met the well-known Dr. K when he began teaching resident family doctors at our clinic in the past year or so.  His style of teaching was so gentle, his interest in learning was so high, and his care for people - patients, staff, and family, was so obvious for those he encountered.  He was a fabulous preceptor and one we will never forget.  He leaves a legacy of LOVE and CARE with us all.

My heart is broken over the passing of Dr. K.  I was lucky enough to be his assistant right before his retirement.  He was such a wonderful doctor.  all his patients and his co-workers adored him.  He loved to tell stories of his grandkids and so proud of his kids.  Just an all around amazing man.  He will be missed!

Dr Kulenkamp was our family doctor for 25+ years.  He didn't just doctor us, he cared for us.  He took the time to know us and remembered us, no matter how infrequently we saw him.  I am a better parent and human being for knowing him.  My sincere thanks to his family for sharing him with his medical practice.

Dr Kulenkamp was our family Doctor for close to 38 years! He really knew his patients and truly cared about them! We are so sorry for your loss.

dr Kulencamp was such a great doctor!!! He delivered our first born son now 26 and was at the delivery of our twin girls now 21.  He was not yet fully signed on at Regions Hospital with HealthPartners so another doctor had to deliver our twins but he was right by our side and we sooooooo much appreciated that!!!! I enjoyed our time fishing in Canada when we were a lot younger.  Not only were you a great physician, you were a great fisherman.   You share tips on fishing the waters we were in, on my first trip.  It was fun spending time with you.  Over they years you took good care of me.  I knew you were honest with me when giving sound medical advice.  Seeing you at weddings and big family events, you always had a good handshake and said hi.  Rest in peace Doctor, fisherman and friend.

I was one of the fortunate people who had the pleasure of working with Dr. K for many years. He was such a great teacher and I learned so much from him! You could definitely tell medicine was his passion and he truely cared for all his patients.
I also witnessed the love he had for his family. I remember sitting near him after a long day and he would always call Beth to check on her in such a sweet caring way no matter how hectic his day was.
I also recall when he would come back from vacation and show us the pictures with all his adorable grandkids. He just lit up when he talked about his children and grandkids:)
My thoughts and prayers go out to all of his family! He will be greatly missed by many!❤

I was the lucky one to get to be his side kick for some years. He took the time to teach at every opportunity. He had a great listening ear you could tell him anything. He was so happy for your success big or small. The hometown doc that knew not just you but your family and gave everyone the time they needed no matter what. My heart is breaking knowing he is no longer a quick text message away. He brought out the best in people! Caring for everyone family, friends, patients the same brought out the best in him. NEVER again will there be another like him!

The medical world will miss a great physician. Dr. Kulenkamp was one of the few real physicians. He had the patience to talk to you and listen. He was more than a doctor, a counselor. One always found a friend there. Going to see him was like receiving a dose of life and one left willing to do more in life. After 25 year he became my friend, and we talked about many things. My stories and his stories. Mostly going fishing with sons and friends. He enjoyed life and provided young doctors and nurses with the kind of philosophy that is rare to find. I will miss my friend. God has now the doctor he was looking for.

This was such devastating news to us.  Dr. K. was the first doctor we saw when we moved to Woodbury.  He took such good care of our babies.  He was so kind to me in the treatment of my migraines.  I could go on and on...  He just took such good care of his patients and gave them his TIME.  Dr. K was so proud of his family and I always looked forward to a grandchild update etc.  He was an amazing man.  Sending our sincere sympathy to the Kulenkamp family.

He was such a caring man, husband, father and doctor!  He will be sadly missed by many.

I think I was one of Dr. Kulenkamp's first patients.  I still take a moment to think about him when I go past the space where his clinic was on Woodlane.  I can imagine him pole vaulting relieved of his early body.

Doctor K was the best.  He took care of me and my family until he retired. He inspired two of my children to become doctors.  He was a great neighbor and friend.  He will be missed.

I was SO happy to work with THE Dr. Steven Kulenkamp right after residency.  Could not have asked for a better partner!  He not only cared for so many patients but helped in the education of so many young doctors.  He made a true difference in Woodbury.  It was an honor to work beside him for many years.   

This is heartbreaking news.  Dr K was an amazing man. Loved by all. He was a friend, father, teacher and all around great man. This world will miss him dearly. Heaven has an amazing angel. So happy I was able to work with and learn from him. God bless his family. Prayers are with all of you.
