Eleanore M. Geraghty

GERAGHTY-Eleanore M. (nee Meyer) passed April 13, 2016 in hospice care in the home of daughter, Michele McGovern. Eleanore was cherished by her husband, Patrick, and adored by her children Coleen, Kathleen, Patrice, Michele, Liz, Patrick. She was a devoted grandmother to Brian, Devon (and husband James), Kaitlin (and husband Ben), Casey (and partner Alex), Eliot, Luke, Paige, Kellie, Kathryn, James, Morgan, Charlie, Liam, Abi and Bryn; a doting great-grandmother to Kyah, Thomas and Kourtney; and a loving mother-in-law to Mary, Bob, Gary, Simon and Tim. Born in New York City to Gustav and Louise Meyer, natives of Cuxhaven, Germany, Eleanore married Patrick Geraghty on Oct. 7, 1951. They lived in Astoria for most of their married lives. After raising six children, Eleanore returned to work and rose to become circulation manager at McGraw Hill Publications. She and Patrick traveled extensively, visiting Europe, China, Japan, Australia and many cities in the United States. Eleanore was legendary, not only for her warmth, caring nature and selfless concern for others, but also for her elegance and sense of style. Reposing at Thomas M. Quinn Funeral Home, 35-20 Broadway, LIC, NY on Sunday, April 17, 2016 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass, Monday, 10:30 am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church. Interment St. Michael’s Cemetery.
