Josephine M. D’Elia (nѐe Boccanfuso) passed away late Saturday, October 4, 2014. She was born in the lower East Side of Manhattan on December 2, 1922 and lived for many years in Astoria, Queens and later Mastic, Long Island. She was predeceased in 2009 by her beloved husband of 66 years, Vincent J., a World War II veteran, and her son James F. in 1990.
Mrs. D’Elia is survived by her three children, Ann D’Elia, Michele Tonetti married to David, and Nicholas D’Elia married to Maria. She also leaves her sister Theresa Rudys of New Mexico, and five grandchildren James, Jennifer, Liza, Angela and Vincent and four great grandchildren Jimmy, Stephen, Emma and James.
She is reposing at Quinn’s Funeral Home, 35-20 Broadway, Long Island City, NY 11106 from 2 to 5 pm and 7 to 9 pm on Monday, October 6, 2014. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 690 Woodbury Road, Woodbury, LI 11797 at 10:30AM on Tuesday, October 7, 2014. Interment is with her husband at Calverton National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Mrs. D’Elia’s memory may be made to Holy Name of Jesus Church.
