

Richard Evangelista, 70, of Union, NJ, passed away early Sunday morning, November 5, 2017, at Clara Maass Medical Center, of complications from cancer and kidney disease. Born August 24, 1947, to Joseph and Anna Leone Evangelista, he was the youngest of four brothers. Richard was a 1964 graduate of William Cullen Bryant High School, in Queens, NY, a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War during which he was stationed in Korea, and the longtime Vice President of Corinth Films, a notable film importing and distribution company. Above all, he was the loving and devoted father of two daughters, Laura Evangelista Engel, of Boston, MA, and Lily Evangelista, of Portland, ME. Rich cherished any time spent with his family and friends, especially a day near the ocean, preferably fishing. He was kind, reflective, and always positive, even in the most trying circumstances. His warm conversation and his resilience will be remembered by all. He was predeceased by his parents and three brothers, Sonny, Terry, and Joe. In addition to his daughters, he is survived by their mother, Alice Angell, of Portland, ME, to whom he was married for 18 years, and by close nieces, nephews, cousins, and community in New York and New Jersey. There will be a viewing at Thomas M. Quinn and Sons Funeral Home, 35-20 Broadway, Astoria, NY 11106, from 8:30 to 10 a.m., and a service at Most Precious Blood Church, 32-23 36th St, at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 10, 2017. Family and friends are invited to gather and remember Rich.
