Ron was born and raised in New York City alongside his brother, Joel, by their loving parents, John and Etta. He graduated from Stuyvesant High School, went on to attend St. John’s University, and later earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from Fordham University—a reflection of his deep and abiding commitment to helping others.
Ron devoted his career to public service, working for decades within the NYC Human Resources Administration. As Director of Housing and later Director of Crisis Intervention, he served some of the city’s most vulnerable populations with compassion, intelligence, and unwavering integrity. His leadership was instrumental in shaping programs that continue to impact countless lives today.
Residing in Jackson Heights, Queens, for over fifty years, Ron was an active member of his community. He served on the board of the Sunnyside Community Center, where his commitment to service and advocacy remained strong throughout his life. He also embraced the simple joys of life such as making his signature lasagna, summers in the Catskills, or catching a Mets game at Shea Stadium with his sons—always loyal to his team, win or lose.
To all who knew him, Ron was warm, generous, and endlessly kind. He greeted everyone with a smile and carried a gentle, self-deprecating humor that could brighten any room. His kindness was genuine and his care for others deeply felt.
He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and beloved wife of 65 years, Nancy; his sons, Richard and Christopher; his daughter-in-law, Catherine; and his cherished grandson, William. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather whose presence will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
In accordance with his wishes, no funeral service will be held. The family invites donations in Ron’s memory to Sunnyside Community Services (https://scsny.org/donate) or a charity of your choice.
Ron’s legacy of kindness, service, and humor will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing him.
