Remembering how much you helped young men and women as rookie sanitation workers in Queens West 1. Stevie you always went out of your way to help us younger guys that came ion the job working the Midnight to Eight Shift. You will always be remembered by me for your kindness & your thoughtfulness. My condolences to the Doran family. Stevie was one of the first, if not the first to befriend when I started the job with the Sanitation dept back in 1993. He would tell me stories of those that came before me. He was so kind to me and I appreciated his friendship. May the good Lord have him and keep him in his glory.

Steve and I grew up together.  In 1964 I would drive to Rockland Community College everyday.  If Steve didn't feel like going to school that day he would be waiting for me to pass his house and he would come to class with me.  It's too bad we couldn't register him at Rockland because I think he would have had more credits than me.  Certainly better grades.  We lost touch over the years when I moved away but reconnected on social media a few years ago.  Recently he told me he was coming to Florida in March.  He would be staying a short distance from where I live.  We planned to meet up when he arrived. I was looking forwarded to seeing him again.  That meeting will have to wait.  My thoughts and prayers are with Steve's family.  

I hadn't seen Steve for many years when one Sat.night he pulled his DSNY truck into my garage in the Bx. He was heading to NJ to dump a relay. I knew him for about 50yrs. from the old neighborhood. We started talking about Ravenswood and the people we knew. Brought back good memories. I see from his picture he was on oxygen. I recognize the hose, I have the same one. He was always a good guy. I'll miss seeing him and his jokes on F.B. may he rest in peace.

“We seem to give our loved ones back to you, Lord. You gave them to us. Just as you did not lose them in giving, neither do we lose them in return.”

Steve was a kind soul, and the Lord is lucky to have him return. I hope the family will take comfort in knowing he will always be around, and to remember that this is not goodbye, but until we meet again. And we shall certainly, meet again.



Sending out prayers and my heartfelt condolences to the Doran family. I knew Steve for many years. I worked in the same garage that he worked, and he was such a nice  guy always friendly and willing to help. I knew him even before that from the neighborhood and he was just the same outside the job. 
May my prayers reach the family and bring comfort in this time of need. 🙏🏼
