Alva Winton (“June”) Gibson, Jr., 95 of Acworth, Georgia, passed away Tuesday June 11, 2019 at home with his wife Betty. Born June 3, 1924 in Ages, Kentucky, he was the son of Alva Winton Gibson and Sudie Maine Gibson. June worked at Lockheed Martin, Marietta where he worked as a welder. He attended Bascomb United Methodist Church in Woodstock where he enjoyed worshipping with family and fellowship with friends.
Survivors include his wife Betty Lou Johnson Gibson of Acworth, a daughter Lois Anne Gibson Croft and son-in-law, William Larry Croft of Acworth, son, Cecil Winton Gibson and daughter-in law Patricia Ann Baxter Gibson of Acworth, 3 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, one sister Betty Gibson Blaylock, and many nieces and nephews.
A service will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Bascomb United Methodist Church. The family will receive visitors Tuesday, June 18, 2019 from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM prior to the service at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in June’s name to Bascomb United Methodist Church 2295 Bascomb Carmel Road Woodstock, GA 30189. Burial will follow at Rolling Hills Memory Park in Acworth.
