Barbara Cavender Boudreau passed away surrounded by family on March 11, 2016. She was born on May 4, 1943 to Woody and Mildred Cavender in Waycross, GA. Her life was rich with experience as she lived all over the world and the United States. She was raised in a military family and often told stories of her time living in Pakistan. She met her husband and love of her life Gerry when she was a freshman nursing student at Duke in October of 1961. They were married when they eloped three months later on January 13 and then remarried in front of their parents in a church on January 27. After her time in Durham, she lived in California for 25 years before returning to Georgia in 1989. She was defined by her care for others as her position in life was as matriarch and caregiver for all those around her, including her husband, three siblings, five children, three children in law, four grandchildren and many nephews and nieces whom survive her. She was a talented artist, amazing cook, doll collector and loved to play cards. She always said she was “hanging in there” and we know she still is. All souls in heaven are now being better cared for with her ascension and the world is short a saint. She will be memorialized in a private service at the Woodstock Funeral Home.
