

She was born March 22, 1938 in Maynardville, TN to Herb and Carrie Johnson and later moved to Marietta.
Bernice dedicated her life to her family. First a mother, then an inspiration and forever a best friend... Bernice was the strength and glue guiding her children and helping to raise her grandchildren. A compassionate and loving person, she donated to countless charities never wanting a starving child to go without. She left a Christmas card in the mailbox every year addressed to 'the postmaster' wanting to make everyone feel special during the holidays. Humble and loving, Bernice treated everyone she met with the respect of a friend.
Bernice is survived by; daughter and son-in-law Leon and Tina Robbins, daughter and son-in-law Roy and Crystal Chance, son and daughter-in-law Neal and Kim Cook, daughter and son-in-law Giovanni and Brandy Castaneda; their father Howard Cook; grandchildren Nikki Copeland, Justin Hamilton, Autumn Cook, Austin Cook, Grant Cook, Taylor Cook, Giovanni Castaneda Jr., Breanna Chance, Erin Chance, Jeremy Chance, Marlee Gamble Miller; great-grandchildren Luke Gamble, Chace Miller and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Everett "Bud" Johnson, sister Mary Sweet and grandson Zachary Gamble.
The funeral visitation is 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 14th at Woodstock Funeral Home, 8855 Main Street in Woodstock, GA. Funeral services will be held at the same location Friday, January 16th at 1:00 p.m. followed by a procession to Kemp Cemetery at the corner of Rocky Mountain and Steinhauer Road in Marietta, 30066.
