

Mr. Christopher Blake Counsell, 52, of Marietta, GA passed away September 29, 2020. Blake was born on September 14, 1968 in Union City, TN. Blake spent his early youth in Union City, TN and Madisonville and Owensboro KY. He graduated from Daviess County High School in Owensboro, KY. Upon graduation from high school, Blake joined the United States Army and graduated basic training at Fort Dix, NJ.
Blake received an Honorable Discharge and continued a career of civil service. During the early 1990’s, Blake earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from Brenau University. In 1999, he graduated from the United States Secret Service (USSS) Training Academy and became a Special Agent assigned to the New York, NY field office. On September 11, 2001, Blake was at ground zero when tragedy struck the World Trade Center. He was summoned, with the entire field office, to assist in during the event, the aftermath, and recovery.
Blake was very fortunate and lucky to meet his wife Jannie and they were married in 2005 while in New York. Blake and Jannie transferred several times over the years to different USSS field offices with stops in Albany Ga, Houston Tx, Biloxi MS, and finally Atlanta Ga. Along the way two beautiful children were born, Kristen Taylor Counsell and Chase Blakemore Counsell.
Blake held many things dear to his heart, foremost was his family. His purpose in life was to provide for them and protect them. Blake loved a variety of activities, sports, and events. He was an avid Alabama football fan and Atlanta Braves fan. He loved all things about cars and trucks, especially performance cars and classic cars.
Blake was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend. Blake will be deeply missed by his family and those lucky enough to have known him.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Jannie Kong Counsell; son, Chase Blakemore Counsell; daughters, Kristen Taylor Counsell and Allyson McGowan; father, Richard H. Counsell; brothers, Bryon Counsell (Katherine) and Phillip Counsell (Dawn); uncles, Jerry and James Counsell; and cousin and friend, Wesley Counsell. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marilee Counsell.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 2, 2020 starting at 6:00pm at Woodstock Funeral Home, 8855 Main St, Woodstock, GA 30188. At 7:00pm, the United States Secret Service will pay tribute to Blake’s service. Following, the United States Army will render military honors.
