Carolyn was one of my heroes at Chattahoochee Tech.  One of my first memories of her is that of sitting in a school-wide meeting.  The person who was then in charge of Tech Support spoke in front of the faculty and staff telling us of the many accomplishments of IT department.  Carolyn exasperatedly said in her slow, quiet, normal tone of voice (only heard by those of us next to her), "Well, I just want to stand up a scream, 'Liar, liar pants on fire.'" 

I worked with Carolyn at Chattahoochee Tech from 1996 until she retired. She was on my hiring committee, and I clearly remember  the first time I saw her. She was a show-stopper with a majestic presence that could not be ignored no matter who else was in the room. What I remember most about her was her quiet elegance and beauty, both inside and out. Carolyn lived fully, courageously, and with honor and integrity. Heaven is a better place for her presence there.

I have only known Carolyn a few short years but quickly came to love her.  Her quick and sardonic sense of humor was enchanting to another like soul.  Somehow she always managed to look put-together no matter what was happening.  And she could hold her liquor, quite a bit of it—or it seemed like that to me.  On top of all the super fun stuff, she was so kind and generous. I will never forget her and feel privileged to have known her. 

I had the pleasure of working with Carolyn for 2 years (1996 – 1998) and even though I moved to Florida she stayed one of my best friends.  While working with Carolyn I would go to lunch with her and Pat Tipton almost every day.  I always loved the banter between Carolyn and Pat over politics.  Carolyn was always embarrassed when Pat would try to get Carolyn to ask for the senior discount at restaurants.  Carolyn at this time was only 55 and she did not look a day over 35.  

Before I moved to Florida Carolyn gave me a book Oh, the Places You'll Go! by Dr. Seuss.   One of the quotes from the book has always made me think of Carolyn:
“You're off to Great Places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting,
So... get on your way!” 
Carolyn always wanted her friends and family to be happy and to pursue their dreams.  She loved Johanna and was always proud of her.  She was always updating me on the adventures of Johanna.

When I hear the song 10,000 Miles by Mary Chapin Carpenter, I will always think of Carolyn.   She had me download this song for her years ago.  At the end of the song are the lyrics:
“If I had a friend
All on this earth
You've been a friend to me”
Carolyn was a great friend to me and so many more.    She had a great sense of humor and her laugh was infectious.  She made me smile, laugh and now I cry.  I will miss her.  


I met Carolyn at the Curves in Woodstock.  We really didn’t know each other very long but I felt an instant connection.  We would workout and then chat while stretching. There were occasions, of course, that we would chat while exercising as well. Our workouts weren’t very good those days, but definitely more fun.
Carolyn was one of the strongest people I’ve ever met. I admired her fighting spirit, love of life, love for family and friends and her sense of humor which she never lost.
Carolyn’s pride and love for her daughter Johanna was so beautiful. She certainly raised an amazing daughter as well. 
I am so glad I got a chance to read the memories and see the pictures from the people who knew her best. I feel l got to know her better through your eyes.
I will always remember how she touched my life in such a positive way.
I hope we meet up again one day Carolyn.

Carolyn was such an important person in my life, like a second mother. She was patient with me being at her house all of the time in my formative years, even when I would drink all of her Coca-Cola. She treated me (and all of Johanna’s friends) as one of her own, which is why so many people have felt this loss so deeply. She touched everyone she met and we all fell in love with her. She was so utterly and effortlessly cool.

I remember when she would come home from work each day. She would pop in the VHS tape she had used to record her soap opera and would watch it while she exercised every day. I also remember flipping through the Spiegel catalog that was always within reach wondering if I could be as stylish and beautiful when I grew up. 

I enjoyed knowing Mrs. Hall as a child and really loved getting to know Carolyn as an adult. She taught me so many things that I still do today. For example, always putting another Coke in the fridge when you take one out and making the bed in the morning after staying the night. 😊 I have so many wonderful memories of Carolyn, but what I remember most is her devotion and love for Johanna. The unbreakable bond between mother and daughter was enviable. 

I always admired her dry wit, intelligence, kindness, love for her daughter and fur babies, courage, beauty, style and sophistication. She will always hold a very special place in my heart as she is so embedded in my memories from a young child until the day she passed. I will miss her always. She was truly one of a kind; there was no one like her. We will be telling Carolyn stories for the rest of our lives and smiling.

I will never forget sitting at Carolyn’s house and drinking wine with the ladies during some sort of break from residency.. She had the best stories and always always was laughing. A joy to be around. She always slept in which was the best. She wouldn’t hesitate to pay for an amazing dinner or night out for me and Johanna. I always felt like part of the family around Carolyn. 
Truly an amazing person to the core. Miss her already. 

Our friendship began in 1974 as neighbors in Marietta, GA.  We lived across the street from each other and shared a lot of our spare time together.  We taught at the same school and saw each other throughout the day.  I spent many afternoons after school sitting at her dining room table, sipping on a glass of wine and smoking cigarettes, listening to Willie, Waylon and Merle.  We talked about everything, and we laughed and laughed.  As the years flew by, our friendship deepened.  I have some great memories of specific occasions we shared together.  I truly loved and admired Carolyn.  She was a great listener and friend.  She always told the truth, never mincing words.  I will miss her until we meet again.  "I love you,  Carolyn Hall," was always how I ended our conversations together.

It’s been an honor and a privilege to know Carolyn, and I’ve been blessed by her friendship over the years. She was always there to offer a listening ear, and offer advice and wisdom, always encouraging me. I will treasure our talks, lunch visits and moments in the backyard which were like an outdoor sanctuary. I will always remember her as one of the kindest, smartest, and strongest people I know, truly a beautiful spirit who touched the hearts of all those she encountered. I will forever miss here but know I will see her again one day. 

So many fond memories of Carolyn.  One of the fondest is traveling to Mississippi with her and hearing all of the stories about each person in the family and just cracking up the whole time.  She sure had fun with everyone and loved to laugh.  She’d yell at me just as much, but that made us laugh, too.  The last couple years we bonded more when she hired me to do interior design in her home.  (She’s the one who got me started, because she believed in me.)  For over two weeks we spent hours figuring things out and we “worked together”, as she liked to mention.  She became a close friend, for sure, and I will miss her.  I will play our playlist we made together and cherish these times.  Love you, Carolyn and Jo!! See you in heaven.  

Carolyn was smiling face at every get together.  She would show up with her humor and have everyone laughing!  She was always there for people, including our family.   I will never forget the love and support she has shown us over the years.  She invited me to her work one day to have the students cook us a 5 course meal and it was such a fun day.   The love and support she had for her daughter was what all daughters  crave from their mothers.   Carolyn was one of those people who brightened your heart when she walked in the room.  She truly is a super hero and fought so hard.   We will miss her so much!  Be like Carolyn, and radiate love!  ❤️
