Cathy C Landers

13 March, 195524 March, 2020

Cathy (Cox) Landers, 65, of Canton, GA passed away March 24, 2020.

Cathy was born on March 13, 1955 in Athens, TN to the late Harold R. and Margie Cox. She graduated from McMinn Central High School.

Cathy enjoyed a career in healthcare, working in hospitals and then managing a private practice. She eventually became a business partner with Dr. LE Horowitz. Through this partnership, she gained a best friend in Dr. Horowitz, and his family became hers. Cathy had a special place for children in her heart and considered all the neighborhood children part of her family. To countless children, she was affectionately known as “Nenny”. She had a very nurturing soul. Cathy worked hard as a single parent raising her two children. Cathy was very kind, energetic, and excelled in business pursuits. She loved shopping and never met a stranger; she made friends everywhere she went. It is simply impossible to put into words what she meant to not only her family, but to all the many friends and children she has met along the way.

Left behind are her children, Chad Landers (Felicia) and Kansas Mathis (John Hoback); grandchildren, Justin Williams, Jacob Landers, Drake Landers and Kennedy Jo Mathis; 2 godsons, Devin Horowitz and Jared Horowitz; and the Cox and Horowitz families.

The family will have a service at a later date to celebrate and honor Cathy’s life. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the grandchildren’s trust fund. In order to do so, please contact Kansas Mathis.

Cathy and I were friends through Jr.High and High School and later on with our young children. If there was one word to describe her it would be determined, she accomplished everything she went after. Such a strong person. Totally devoted to her family.
This heartbreaking news has left me cherishing all the memories we shared. Many prayers for her friends and family.

So sorry for your loss! Cathy lived down the street from my grandmother when we were just children. I remember playing and climbing trees together with her & Wheatie. Such wonderful childhood memories!

I knew Cathy from a very young age through Uncle Lonny and my late Nana Judy. Always put a smile on your face and such a selfless person always putting others before herself. I'm very saddened by this tragic event because she was a wonderful human being and she will be surely missed

I met Cathy in Roswell as a patient at Dr. Horowitz's office more than 20 years ago. Over the years, her directness and helpful attitude were refreshing and comforting. She was always cheerful, upbeat and professional and had a quick sense of humor.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of her passing, and want her family to know that she had many fans and friends that made a connection with her through the medical office.

Our hearts go out to her family and loved ones.

I’ve known Cathy for many years through her love and devotion to my Aunt, Judith Horowitz. I believe that my aunt looked at Cathy as a second daughter. She made those around her better people, and my family will always remember her fondly. She will be missed.
