Denton was born August 20, 1942, in Ashland, Ohio to the late Clara L. Peabody. Denton was preceded in death by his loving wife Beatrice “Jean” Metz Peabody.
Denton is survived by his daughter, Denise Peabody; his son, Greg Peabody (Karen), his grandchildren Tucker Peabody and Jack Peabody (Allie), Madeline Bradley (Ben) and Jackson Ratcliff. Brother-in-law, John Metz, sister-in-law Michaela “Mickey” Metz, nephews Patrick (Marion) and Stephen (Lisa), and 17 great nieces and nephews and 13 great-great nieces and nephews.
Denton grew up in Fort Pierce, Florida and graduated in from St. Augustine High School. He graduated in 1966, from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama where he met the love of his life and future wife, Beatrice “Jean” Metz. Denton excelled in various positions within the food industry. His most recent position held was Vice President of Sales for Valley Innovative Services based out of Jackson, Mississippi.
In his free time, Denton enjoyed spending time with his family at their cabin in Hardy, Arkansas. Many memories were made fishing, hunting, and four-wheeling with his children, grandchildren and their many friends.
A private Mass will be held Friday, May 17, 2024, at 2 p.m. at St. John Paul II Catholic Church in Gainesville, Georgia. A graveside burial will be held in Memphis, TN on Monday May 20, 2024, at 12 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Rock Creek Manor, 50 Cagle Mill Rd S., Jasper, Georgia 30143, or Camp Tanglewood, 1403 Tanglewood Lane, Lawrence, Mississippi 39336.
