March 24, 1940 – April 13, 2026
Flora Jane Sutphin (Miles), born on Easter Sunday, March 24, 1940, in Jonesville, Virginia, peacefully went home to be with her Lord on April 13, 2026. She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt whose kindness and quiet strength touched many lives.
At the age of 18, Flora moved from Jonesville, Virginia, to Willoughby, Ohio, beginning a new chapter that would soon lead her to Mentor, Ohio. There, she lived, worked, and raised her family for many years. In 2017, she moved to Woodstock, Georgia, to live with her daughter, Catherine and son-in-law, Jay. In 2020 she transitioned to a nursing facility in Kennesaw, Georgia, where she resided until her passing.
Flora was a hard worker and took great pride in her work as an Independent Contractor in custodial services, a role she faithfully fulfilled with the highest of integrity until December 2016. Outside of work, she enjoyed an active and full life. She loved bowling, badminton, and volleyball, and she found simple joy in reading, listening to music, and watching her favorite TV soap operas. She was also a very good home cook, and her family will long remember the meals, holidays, and everyday gatherings she made special. What meant the most to her was spending time with her family.
Flora faced life’s joys and sorrows with quiet resilience reflected in the love, patience, and care she showed to others. She was a steady loving presence to all she was close to.
