Gene Larry Morehead

Born in Pulaski, Virginia, Gene lived a life marked by service, devotion, and deep love for those closest to him. He proudly served in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. After his military service, Gene built a beautiful life rooted in family, faith, and a passion for life’s simple joys.

Gene was a devoted husband to his beloved wife of 46 years, Donna Morehead and a younger brother to Jerry Morehead. He was a proud father to four children—Kyle Swan, Kevin Swan, Wes Morehead, and Bethany North—and a cherished grandfather to eight grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense pride and joy.

Gene was an avid golfer and a long time fan of the Atlanta Braves, never missing a game on TV. He had an adventurous spirit and a deep love of travel, especially when it meant being near or in the ocean. His loyalty, sense of humor, and quiet strength left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

A celebration of Gene’s life will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery on May 15 at 11:30 a.m., where he will be honored for his service and remembered with love.
