In 1958, Hugh met and fell in love with Janet Reimer. Shortly after, they were married and started their family. They moved to Florida in their later years and recently moved to Georgia so they would both be close to family. On August 30th, 2018, they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Hugh was a man of few words but everyone knew how much he loved his family, his wife, and his children. He also had a genuine fondness for animals of every kind, most especially he and Jan’s countless cats and dogs. He was a good man, a hard worker and a good provider for his family. He enjoyed watching sports with his wife and was a big fan of the University of Michigan. He loved Florida’s warm weather and he and Jan tried to dine near the beach as often as possible to watch the sun set.
Along with his parents, Hugh is preceded in death by his son, Dean Halaby.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Halaby; sons, Scott (wife Tracy) Halaby and Steve (wife Stacy) Halaby; daughter, Stacey Halaby; grandchildren, Nick Halaby, Melissa (husband Matthew) Nakfoor, Samantha Halaby, Jordan Halaby, Allison (husband Buddy) Lawhead, Zack Halaby, and Gabby Halaby; and great-grandchildren, Emma Nakfoor, Josh Lawhead, Caleb Lawhead, and Asher Lawhead.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his honor to the American Cancer Society.
