Ira Addison Carlisle Peets was born in the hamlet of Sandy Point, on the island of Saint Kitts, on
October 29th, 1945 to Arlington and Winifred Peets. Ira is survived by his siblings: Willis, Joyce,
Lois, Pearl, Cynthia, Eleanor, Erica, Lydia and Odette and numerous nephews, nieces, and
cousins. Ira’s surviving children are: Berrette; Angelica, Leon, Alex, Louis, Jocasta, and
Justin. Ira’s son, Steve and brother, Eustace, preceded him in death. Lest we forget, among Ira’s
noted friends, was his best friend, Andre Re.
Ira Peets was a man of many talents. Professionally, Ira was a teacher, Saint Kitts and Nevis Police Detective, U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran, retired Oakland Police, retired Internal Revenue
Service Manager and former Deloitte/Touch? Examiner.
Ira had many talents which included being a writer and poet; he has many published poems and,
even an unfinished manuscript. Ira also loved music from all genres and was an avid Art
collector. In conclusion, Ira Addison Carlisle Peets, above all, was a loving friend, uncle, son,
sibling, and father -- and he will be dearly missed!
A Graveside service with Military Honors will be held Friday, February 1, 2019 at 3:00 pm at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
