James Anthony “Tony” Cook, age 50, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 13, 2019 after a five year battle with COPD and cancer.
Tony was born and raised in Marietta, Georgia alongside his sister, Cindy, and was your typical southern boy: not afraid of anything except for the whoopin’ from his daddy’s belt. He was part of Lassiter High School’s graduating class of ’87 and went on taking many classes to improve on his mechanics skills. Tony was a humble man who enjoyed the great outdoors, fishing and camping. He was the kind of person who built long lasting relationships with a few true friends.
He enjoyed working as a mechanic for over 15 years with Midway Auto Repair. He thought the world of his boss and friend, Billy, and proved to be a dedicated employee and hard worker. Tony found joy watching races with his “brother from another mother” Danny Bramblett.
Tony is preceded in death by his grandparents, William “Will” C. & Letha Roach and Noah & Edith Cook, and many aunts and uncles. His memory will be cherished by his parents, Parks & Joyce Cook of Marietta, Georgia; sister, Cindy Cook of Villa Rica, Georgia; and many cousins and other extended family members.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at Woodstock Funeral Home 8855 Main Street Woodstock, Georgia 30188. A Celebration of Tony’s Life will be held at 2:00 PM (in state at 1:00 PM) on Friday, October 18, 2019 at Bascomb United Methodist Church 2295 Bascomb Carmel Road Woodstock, Georgia 30189 with Pastor Sonny Sellers officiating. Tony will be laid to rest in the church’s cemetery following services.
Please consider donations in Tony’s memory to your choice of Bascomb United Methodist Church or to the American Cancer Society.
