James L. “Jake” Pinyan died peacefully in his sleep on February 9, 2012. He was 91 years young. Born October 13, 1920, he was a devoted husband and father. He served on the USS Alabama in World War II, was a member of the Roswell Masonic Lodge for 50 plus years, and was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Marietta, Georgia. He is survived by his son James Lee (Cynthia) Pinyan, Jr., daughter Michelle Pinyan (Dennis) Howell, grandson James Dustin Pinyan and step grandchildren Jensen, Jonah, and Anabelle Howell. The family will receive visitors on Saturday, February 11 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Woodstock Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Sunday, February 12 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Marietta. Jake will be laid to rest beside his wife Mabel and his parents Luke and Maggie Pinyan at Cherokee Memorial Cemetery in Canton.
