Born on May 11, 1946, in Cartersville, Jim proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from July 1965 to January 1970, including service in Vietnam. His time in the military was a source of great pride and honor throughout his life.
In his late twenties, Jim began a dedicated career as a firefighter, serving his community faithfully for 23 years before retiring at the age of 52. He was known for his strong work ethic, courage, and commitment to helping others.
In retirement, Jim enjoyed golfing, fishing, and cooking for family and friends. He cherished time spent outdoors and the fellowship of those he loved most.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, William Claude and Vera Mae Roberts; his brother, William “Billy” Ray Roberts; and his sister-in-law, Juanita Roberts.
He is survived by his loving wife, Melinda Roberts; his son, Scott Roberts and his wife, Cory; and his sister, Tonya Roberts-Osborne, as well as many nieces, nephews, and their families.
Jim will be laid to rest with military honors on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive, Canton, Georgia.
Family and friends who wish to attend are asked to gather at Woodstock Funeral Home, 8855 Main Street, Woodstock, Georgia, by 1:30 PM on March 11, 2026. The procession to the cemetery will leave the funeral home promptly at 2:00 PM.
Jim’s legacy of service, dedication, and love for his family will be remembered always.
