

Mr. James “Jim” Bain, 91, of Woodstock, GA, formally of Chireno, TX, passed away July 22, 2015. Jim was born on December 9, 1923 in Cleveland, OH to the late William M. and Bonnie H. Bain. He attended the University of Miami on a music scholarship. Jim honorably served in the Army Air Corp during WWII. He was taken as a POW by the Germans and later escaped. After returning home, he met the love of his life, Lorraine Nelson, and they married on February 3, 1950. Jim retired from the U.S. Air Force after 26 years of honorable service. He enjoyed a second career in electronics and the airline industry. In his retirement, Jim continued to play big band music, was a private pilot and enjoyed farming. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine Bain, son, Nelson Charles Bain, brother, William Bain and sister, Virginia Girouard. He leaves behind sons, James A. Bain, Jr of Midland, MI, William Joseph Bain (Kari) of Tulsa, OK and Roger L. Bain (Sherry) of Muenster, TX, daughter, Mary F. McCoy (Michael) of Woodstock, GA, grandchildren, Austin, Wyatt, Matthew, Penny, Chuck and Pete and great-grandchildren, McKenna, Ryan, Melanie and Miranda.
A funeral service will be on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at 1:00pm at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Woodstock, GA. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 27, 2015 from 6-8pm at Woodstock Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will follow at another date at the Ft. Douglas Military Cemetery in Salt Lake City, UT.
