Jorge Amado Monteagudo, Jr., 52, departed this life February 16, 2012. He will be remembered for his love and loyalty to family and friends, and his generosity to everyone he encountered. He had an ability to find gentle humor and fun in practically every occasion, and his presence in our life is a gift we will always cherish.
Jorge was born in January 15, 1960, in Havana, Cuba, to Gloria and Jorge Monteagudo. He and his family came to the United States on one of the last Freedom Flights from Cuba, in 1962. The Baptist church initially sponsored him and his family upon their arrival in Hialeah, Florida.
Jorge graduated with honors from Hialeah High School with awards in 1978. In 1982, he graduated with honors from University of Florida, with a B.S. degree in Information Technology, and in 1999 from Kennesaw University with an M.B.A. He began a career at IBM, in Tampa, in 1983, as a programmer, and continued working in various capacities until ending his career as an Executive Project Manager in 2009. Additionally, he taught managerial courses for DeVry University where he was well-known as a caring and engaging teacher, managed real estate, and worked as a Project Manager for Elavon.
Jorge was active in church and community throughout his life. He shared his love for people and his Lord through service, including serving as a Deacon and a Director of youth programs, supporting and serving on multiple domestic and international mission projects, and volunteering in rehabilitating church properties.

His most memorable trips include relaxing with family and friends in Key Largo; returning with his mother and sister to his native country, Cuba, to visit family and friends; visiting his wife Cyntia’s family in Brazil; and most recently, celebrating Thanksgiving with his family in Nevada. Jorge also loved to play games; most of all, those where he officiated and made up the rules as the game was being played.
