Woodstock Funeral Home
Keith John Douglas, age 79, of Marietta, GA, passed away on Friday March 10, 2023 from Alzheimer’s related illness.
Keith was born to Richard and Louis Douglas on September 17, 1943 in Arlington, Virginia. He attended East Carolina University on a wrestling scholarship, studied fine arts, and went on to work in several successful positions in tech sales and founding other small business ventures.
Growing up Irish Catholic, in his mid thirties Keith took an interest in exploring many religions, ultimately finding God in Christianity which he attributed to saving his life and helping him find the love of his life, Margaret “Peggy” McAteer, whom he married in 1979. Joining Keith and Peggy, were his two children from previous marriages, Brian Douglas and Bayn Van Doren. Together they welcomed four more children: Monica (1980), Matthew (1982), Amanda (1983), and Blake (1985). After the passing of his first son Brian, in 1989, Keith’s faith was tested and strengthened, leading him to share the gospel with many and be very active in his church community at Johnson Ferry Baptist.
In his free time he enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting, and walking. Some of his happiest times doing these things were spent in Yankeetown, Florida in the company of his friends and family. Days spent soaking up the sun, deep sea fishing, good food, good wine, and making people laugh with a classic Keith joke, was his idea of a perfect day. In 2010, Keith became affectionately known as “Pop Pop” when his one and only granddaughter Annalise Ellis was born. Being a grandpa was the highlight of his later years allowing him to be the fun-loving, big kid at heart he truly was. His days were then spent spoiling Annalise and taking her on new adventures, one of which was a family reunion in Ireland in 2011. Keith had many hobbies including stained glass artistry, painting, restoring motorcycles and cars, collecting antiques, and a love for cinema. Those that knew Keith “Bubba”, know he was a kind, funny, loving, Christian man that enjoyed conversation with strangers as much as those close to him. His generosity knew no bounds and his playful disposition and sense of humor were present to the end and will be sorely missed.
Keith is survived by his loving wife of nearly 44 years, Margaret “Peggy” Douglas, his children; Bayne, Monica, Matthew, Amanda, Blake and granddaughter Annalise Ellis. In Keith’s passing he is reunited in heaven with his parents, brothers Mickey and Jerry, and his first son, Brian.
“We who are still alive will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.” (1 Thessalonians 4:17)
