Born on July 11, 1954, to Rosalee and Harold Morrison, Lucinda Blackwell was the eldest of
surprise identical twins, the older sister to twin Lorraine, and the fifth of eight siblings. Growing
up in the South Bronx, she was the opinionated, smart twin who dared to speak her mind, and
protector of all her siblings. If you had a problem with them, you had a problem with her— mom
and dad included.
As an adult, Lucinda eased into the more agreeable twin spot, bringing happiness and
spreading positivity everywhere she went. From the tired bartender to the difficult secondgrader,
she left no soul behind.
Lucinda graduated from Lehman College in 1976 and began working for New York State’s Metro
DDSO in 1978. She worked in the Revenue and Reimbursement Department climbing the ranks
to Business Officer until she retired at the young age of 55 in 2010.
In 1979, she met her future husband Paul outside of her apartment building when he offered to
help carry her grocery bags. They dated for two years and married on May 15, 1982. To this
union, their daughter Celina was born. She was Lucinda’s pride and joy. Simply put, “the best
thing that ever happened to her.” The duo loved to dote on their mouse, taking her on any and
every acting audition she wanted, and on their down time, bowling in their local league and
watching prime-time television together.
Known for her infectious smile, compassionate ways and fun-loving spirit, Lucinda was quick to
lend a helping hand to anyone who asked, easing the burdens of many, never expecting
anything in return. And always by her side, her twin Lorraine. The two were inseparable. So
much so that Lucinda started a new career in retirement as a substitute teacher at Brookside
School with Lorraine. No official ranks to climb here, Lucinda quickly won over the hearts of all,
becoming a beacon of light at the elementary school.
A lover of life, Lucinda enjoyed a good time, and a good time in this life she had. She enjoyed
trying her luck at the slots in a casino, travel adventures, all genres of music (she had a
penchant for knowing the words to every song on the radio), and having appetizers and a well-
crafted drink at the bar.
Lucinda was an amazing mother, a dedicated wife, a proud sister, a steadfast friend, and a
champion of all people. She will be remembered forever in all of our hearts… her legacy
irreplaceable.
Lucinda passed peacefully on Wednesday, November 7th at her home surrounded by her
family. She leaves to honor her memory her loving husband Paul, dearest daughter Celina
(Robert) Andrews, and adored grandson Cannon.
Lucinda is also survived by her bonus children Glenda L. Richardson (Darryll C. Scott) and
Lucas (Courtney) Richardson; four sisters Patricia (Jerry) Epps, Lorraine Richardson, Cynthia
(Orlando) Morrison-Lee, and Carolyn (Ben) McNair; brother William (Takeesha) Morrison,
mother-in-law Paula Blackwell, brothers-in-law Cliff Banks, Alan Blackwell and Hai Blackwell;
sisters-in-law Deborah Morrison and D’Ann Blackwell; a host of other relatives, “framily,” and
many dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Harold and Rosalee Morrison, brother Harold Morrison
Jr., sister Marguerite Banks, and brother-in-law Glenn Richardson
A celebration of Lucinda’s life will be held Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 12:30 pm at the Woodstock Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Vic Bledsoe will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday November 16, 2018 from 6 until 8 pm at the funeral home.
